Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I am honored and privileged to assume the role of President of WPHIMA for the 2020-2021 year. This year has been filled with many challenges and we all have had to overcome some of the toughest trials of our time. From our personal to our professional lives we have all had to learn how to accomplish even the most basic of tasks when conforming to the “new norm”. However, this doesn’t have to prevent us from moving forward and bringing patients and providers the best experience. While patients don’t often see us, we see our patients in a way no other healthcare professional does because each of us strive to ensure that sensitive health information remains accurate, accessible, protected and complete. We see the person connected to the data, ensuring their information stays human because when information stays human, it stays relevant. Health information is complex, nuanced, ever-changing and deeply personal. Because of these uniquely human characteristics, its proper management requires a diverse range of expertise. WPHIMA is aligned with the AHIMA Professional Enhancement Campaign (PEC) to continue to develop our professionality in the workplace and is dually committed to the quality of health information for the benefit of patients and providers, the preservation of health information, protecting health information, and that starts with you, our members.
WPHIMA’s ultimate goal is to provide our members with the most up to date and robust educational sessions to meet those goals. In the current state of the pandemic, we’re working on creative ways to deliver this information to you, such as virtual lunch and learn webinars, classroom-style zoom classes, and even full day virtual sessions. These sessions will range from the importance of proper clinical documentation to Privacy in the workplace, no matter where that workplace may now be. WPHIMA is here to support you with your continuing education opportunities and to provide networking opportunities that are geared to grow you professionally. We value your opinion and encourage you to contact us at email@example.com.
I hope everyone stays happy and healthy throughout the year and I look forward to an amazing year with WPHIMA.
