A year like no other…
The year 2020 has been a year to remember and not in a way we all would have hoped, but as I sit back and reflect back on this year, there is one word that comes to mind….Resilience. The challenges we have faced and overcome are ones for the history books. Whether as an individual, a community, or a nation, we have had to band together to overcome so many unexpected challenges of our life-time. It was indeed an unprecedented year full of provocations which have tested us in ways few of us could have ever imagined. Through it all, we did our best to adjust, adapt and conquer, because we are resilient.
WPHIMA has been, and will continue to be, committed to our members and helping each of you the best way we can by providing ongoing, thought-provoking and valuable education to assist our membership to overcome these trying times. We are committed to continue adapting and serving our membership to tackle the unique new challenges we face now as the delivery of healthcare is forever changed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the year, we have transitioned from in-person education events to online events and have recorded these sessions so that they can be viewed at our members’ convenience. Our goal as we move into 2021 is to continue to provide ongoing education to our members in the most cost effective way and provide helpful information that will help strengthen resiliency for our HIM community.
We are here to support you in both good times and bad. 2020 has shown us that we are resilient; we will overcome whatever necessary to adapt and survive these challenges.
WPHIMA is forever grateful to our members for your commitment to our profession and most of all commitment to the patients in the community. So, as we head into 2021, we will raise the bar and deliver more to our members bringing insightful sessions on Patient Privacy and Confidentiality, and the effects of the ONC’s final rule on information blocking, as well as other timely discussions. We are in the process of re-imagining our annual Spring Clinical Day Conference as well.
2021 will indeed bring new challenges but together we will face them head-on.
Have a safe and happy New Year with your loved ones and most importantly, please stay safe.
